'Tis the season to share images from the jewellery archives with a festive theme. For an issue of Vogue, published on December 1st 1911, Jessie Gillespie illustrates a silhouetted woman opening gifts. She's admiring her new string of beads and pendant.

Photographed by John Rawlings for Vogue in 1940, a model does some Christmas shopping in the most stylish of jewellery departments wearing a red turban from Madame Pauline.

Photographed by Tim Walker in 1997 for his 'Spirited' editorial in Vogue magazine, Rhea Durham embraces party hat chic and wears a classic pendant necklace.
