How can I pay?
We accept payment directly by credit card or debit card. We accept all major cards - Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express. TakePayments, in association with Barclaycard, are our payment service provider. You can also make payment via bank transfer or cheque. Please contact us via email in order to do this.
Can you tell me about the condition of your items?
In order to help you understand the appearance of the pieces you buy, we ask you to read the ‘Condition Report’ on your jewellery. At Gemma Redmond Vintage, there are four categories of condition:
Excellent - The item is in perfect condition.
Very Good - The item is in almost perfect condition. There are one or two signs of wear that are only visible on close inspection.
Good - The item has endured regular use well for its age, but has picked up signs of wear along the way.
Wearable - The item shows a number of signs of wear consistent with its age.
Can you tell me about guaranteeing authenticity?
We are able to conclude the authenticity of jewellery through experience and extensive research into jeweller’s marks, design and manufacture techniques and materials used. A number of our items also have a clear provenance and all of our pieces are sourced from reputable dealers or trusted individuals, which further demonstrates their authenticity.
At Gemma Redmond Vintage, we never knowingly sell replica pieces and do our utmost to guarantee the authenticity of your item. We believe in respecting the talent of designers and the heritage of brands. Consequently, if we are in any doubt about the authenticity of a product, then it does not become a part of the collection.
How can I care for my vintage jewellery?
- Be sure to store your jewellery within the boxes that we provide to ensure that it is protected. This is especially important when travelling with your pieces.
- Try not to get perfume or hairspray on your items. These liquids can damage the materials that our jewellery is made from.
- Try not to drop your jewellery or catch your jewellery against hard surfaces. If this happens over time, the findings and fixings can loosen and wear.
- Try not to get your jewellery wet. Some costume jewellery manufacturers utilised water soluble glue in the making of their pieces. Getting your jewellery wet could cause rhinestones and other details to fall away over time.
- If you wish to clean your jewellery, use a soft polishing cloth or a soft brush.
Can I visit your shop?
As an online retailer, we do not have a premises that you can visit at this current time. If you wish to see our items more closely, please contact us. We can send you video clips, further images or more information if you require it.
Can I return my item?
It is possible to return items to us, excepting pierced earrings. Simply complete the 'Return Merchandise Authorization' slip via your account on our website within 24 hours of receiving your items and we will contact you with further details of how to return. For further conditions of return, please see our ‘Delivery and Returns’ section.
Can you tell me more about your standard shipping service?
On orders over £50, standard delivery is free to all mainland UK addresses. On orders over £150, standard delivery is free to international addresses.
Standard delivery to all UK mainland addresses is £4.95.
Standard delivery to international addresses is from £8.95 up to £15.95, depending upon the location.
All standard delivery orders can take 1-2 business days to be processed.
We generally use Royal Mail to ship standard delivery orders within the UK and internationally.
For the UK and Europe, the estimated shipping time after processing is 3-5 business days. For international orders, the estimated shipping time after processing is 5-7 business days.
Generally, parcels will require a signature on receipt.
Can you tell me more about your express shipping service in the UK?
We offer express delivery to all UK mainland addresses. This costs £7.95. Express orders placed before 1pm Monday - Thursday will be delivered on the next day. Express orders placed on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be delivered on the following Tuesday. We generally use Royal Mail to ship express delivery orders within the UK. All express delivery parcels will require a signature on receipt.
Can you tell me more about your express worldwide shipping service?
We offer express delivery to international addresses too. All express delivery orders can potentially take 1 business day to be processed. The estimated shipping time after processing is 2-4 business days. We generally use DPD OR DHL to ship express international orders. Generally, all international express delivery parcels will require a signature on receipt.
How will my order be packaged?
Every item from Gemma Redmond Vintage comes beautifully presented. Jewellery is parcelled in a black box, stamped with our logo in white. The boxes are tied with our signature ribbon. Accessories are wrapped in tissue paper and tied with our signature ribbon. You will receive a thank you note, a Gemma Redmond Vintage postcard and description of your item printed onto card too. Items are sent out in our Eco-Mailer padded envelopes or cardboard postal boxes.
Do you offer layaway?
Yes, we do. We are happy for customers to pay for items of any price in instalments. Any item that has been in the shop for more than 24 hours is eligible for layaway. Please contact us to arrange a layaway plan. We will discuss how many instalments you would like to split your payment into and how frequently you would like to pay. Please note, to begin a layaway plan, a down payment of 10% is required and, should you choose to cancel your plan, a 20% cancellation fee will be taken in order to cover administrative costs.
Do you reserve items?
Yes, of course. We will happily reserve an item for you for up to 48 hours, without a deposit. To reserve an item for up to 1 week, a 10% deposit is required. This is non-refundable. After one week, the item must be paid for in full or a layaway plan must be started.
Can you source something specific for me?
Yes, certainly. If you're looking for something in particular and cannot find it in our current collection, please don't hesitate to contact us. We offer a personal shopping service, whereby we source items according to your requirements.
Do you have a ring re-sizing service?
At this current time, we do not offer ring re-sizing. For this, we suggest you take your ring to a local jeweller or use a trusted online jeweller.
Do you provide valuations?
Yes. If your item is a piece of antique or vintage costume jewellery we will happily give you a valuation and provide you with further information on your piece. For this service, we charge a small fee. Please contact us for further details.
Do you purchase jewellery?
Yes. If you have jewellery that you wish to sell, please email us with images and information about your items. We will get back to you as soon as possible to let you know if your pieces are of interest. Please note, we only buy vintage or antique costume jewellery.
