The Details...
These silver tone metal earrings each feature baguette cut Aurora Borealis rhinestones, oval and round topaz rhinestones and round colourless rhinestones. All of the stones are multi-faceted and claw-set. The earrings are clip on and each earring measures 2cm x 1.5cm.
A Short History...
These earrings are emblematic of the 'Cocktail Style' of costume jewellery being produced and worn during the 1950s and 1960s. There was a craze for costume jewellery that was ostentatious and glitzy; featuring stones in outlandish sizes and showy colourways. This form of jewellery was referred to as 'cocktail' because it was commonly worn to a way of gathering together that was becoming increasingly popular - the cocktail party.
