The Details...
These gold plated hoop earrings are detailed with oval shaped, coral coloured glass cabochons. They measure 4cm x 1cm. The earrings are signed - the inside of each earring features an oval cartouche stamped with 'GIVENCHY PARIS NEW YORK', a copyright symbol and the Givenchy logo.
A Short History...
1980s style can be effectively explained by the term 'power dressing'. Womenswear was tailored to challenge notions of who was 'boss' and costume jewellery was created to reflect fashion that showed control. Pieces, such as these earrings, were bold and flashy. Adornment in the eighties was a vocabulary for saying 'I'm in charge'.
