Very Good - A small element of clouding to a couple of rhinestones. This is consistent with age and is only visible upon close inspection. It does not detract from the appeal of the earrings.

The Details...

These rhodium plated earrings feature a beautiful, disc-shaped drop design. They are set with round, colourless rhinestones. All of the stones are multi-faceted and claw set. These earrings are of very fine quality, yet unsigned. The heart motifs in the earring clip backs and rhinestone settings indicate that they were most likely made in Germany. They were possibly produced for a couture house - perhaps being made by the German designer Max Müller, as they bear a close resemblance to his work. The earrings measure 6cm x 3cm.

All of our clip earrings are provided with removable pads for additional comfort, should you require it.

A Short History...

These earrings are emblematic of the 'Cocktail Style' of costume jewellery being produced and worn during the late 1940s and Early 1950s. In the post-war world there was a craze for costume jewellery that was ostentatious and glitzy; featuring stones in outlandish sizes and showy colourways. This form of jewellery was referred to as 'cocktail' because it was commonly worn to a way of gathering together that was becoming increasingly popular - the cocktail party.

The jewellery within the Gemma Redmond Vintage collection has survived to this day because it has been well cared for throughout its lifetime. It is important to continue to care for the jewellery that you buy from us to ensure its continued preservation. Here are some suggestions:

- Be sure to store your jewellery within the boxes that we provide to ensure that it is protected. This is especially important when travelling with your pieces.

- Try not to get perfume or hairspray on your items. These liquids can damage the materials that our jewellery is made from.

- Try not to drop your jewellery or catch your jewellery against hard surfaces. If this happens over time, the findings and fixings can loosen and wear.

- Try not to get your jewellery wet. Some costume jewellery manufacturers utilised water soluble glue in the making of their pieces. Getting your jewellery wet could cause rhinestones and other details to fall away over time.

- If you wish to clean your jewellery, use a soft polishing cloth or a soft brush.
