The Details...
This necklace features cobalt blue swirled glass round beads and cobalt blue and frosted glass rondelle beads. There are navy blue and cream pyramid shaped celluloid beads and black celluloid rondelles and cones too. All of these beads are interspersed with brass tubes and discs. The celluloid pyramid beads are capped with a brass finding, which is designed to resemble an Egyptian lotus flower. All of the beads are threaded onto chain and the necklace fastens with a barrel clasp. The necklace measures 70cm in length.

A Short History...
In 1922, Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun and, thereby, ignited a Western fascination with Ancient Egypt which permeated the Arts. Jewellery designers created heavily stylised profiles of people, hieroglyphs and creatures taken from tomb walls, as can be seen in the lotus flowers in this necklace. Reviving Egyptian motifs was a real 1920s celebration of adventure and breaking down cultural barriers.

- If you wish to clean your jewellery, use a soft polishing cloth or a soft brush.
