    The Details...

This necklace is detailed with clusters of multi-coloured, teardrop shaped, glass beads. It also features 6 green and red glass cubes. There are also round, colourless rhinestones individually attached to the necklace chain in claw set cups. The necklace is also detailed with multi-faceted black glass bead and metal rondelle beads. The necklace measures approximately 70cm.

    A Short History...

This is an exceptionally rare example of Art Deco jewellery from the workshop of Louis Rousselet - a master bead and imitation pearl maker based in Paris. Rousselet created 4 collections per year and couture houses such as Chanel, Dior and Schiaparelli selected models from his lines to compliment their collections. A highly similar necklace to this example, with near identical beadwork and findings, features in the book 'Fashion Jewelry - The Collection of Barbara Berger' and is attributed to the French poured glass jewellery maker Gripoix. However, recent research and correspondence with the Maison Rousselet archives has revealed that the necklace we have for sale here is certainly by Louis Rousselet.

    Wear it With...

This necklace is perfect for a rare costume jewellery collector and would make a stunning display piece. However, it's more than suitable for wear and looks elegant paired with a deep black roll neck knit.

The jewellery within the Gemma Redmond Vintage collection has survived to this day because it has been well cared for throughout its lifetime. It is important to continue to care for the jewellery that you buy from us to ensure its continued preservation. Here are some suggestions:

    - Be sure to store your jewellery within the boxes that we provide to ensure that it is protected. This is especially important when travelling with your pieces.

    - Try not to get perfume or hairspray on your items. These liquids can damage the materials that our jewellery is made from.

    - Try not to drop your jewellery or catch your jewellery against hard surfaces. If this happens over time, the findings and fixings can loosen and wear.

    - Try not to get your jewellery wet. Some costume jewellery manufacturers utilised water soluble glue in the making of their pieces. Getting your jewellery wet could cause rhinestones and other details to fall away over time.

    - If you wish to clean your jewellery, use a soft polishing cloth or a soft brush.
